Issues
I believe we live in the greatest country on earth. The American people represent the most benevolent society in history. 
Compassion and selflessness in support of individual freedoms and opportunities are woven into our American fabric.
As U.S. Congressman from the 8th District, I will represent hard-working, compassionate American patriots; and I will celebrate the American spirit in the decisions I make while representing the families and citizens of Lake, Cook, and McHenry counties. On behalf of our children and grandchildren, I will set my internal compass to ensure our future follows that set of values that make America "the shining light on the hill."
To keep our shining light forever bright, the issues of today must be addressed with a strong conservative voice. Together we must:
- Put an end to out-of-control government spending
- Create an environment for entrepreneurs and businesses to grow, thrive and employ hard-working Americans
- Move individuals towards independence rather than reliance on government entitlement
- Protect American freedoms and the "American Way of Life" from those who would like it destroyed
- Leverage American resources and resourcefulness to become energy independent
Health CareAmerica is home to the world's best medical care. The access and administration of our health care system, however needs improvement. I support improvements to our health care system, but I oppose efforts by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress to saddle taxpayers with another enormous government program that will reduce the quality of our medical care. |
Fiscal ResponsibilityWe must stop uncontrolled spending. In its first nine months, the Democrat-controlled Congress has contributed to the deficit in epic proportion. Our national deficit is soaring above $1 trillion dollars annually, with no end in sight. Instead of stimulating government spending, I'll work to stimulate local economies and rein in spending. |
National SecurityWe must never waiver from a strong national defense, or shrink from our leadership of liberty and freedom. We are in a war against terrorism and our enemy is relentless. We have and must maintain the greatest military in the world, all volunteer, professional and dedicated soldiers. |
JobsCreating jobs and economic opportunities for hard-working Americans is a top priority Thousands of jobs have been lost in Illinois; Democrat-proposed federal taxes, burdensome regulations and overzealous environmental laws will only further handicap American business owners. |
TaxesA recession is not the time to raise taxes. Families across Illinois' 8th District and throughout our nation cannot afford higher taxes. Taxing employers and investors removes needed capital from our economy. |
Traditional Values and Family IssuesI am Pro-Life and I believe in traditional marriage. |
EnergyEnergy independence is critical to our economic, national defense and political future. Creating new "green" jobs and initiatives is a wonderful goal, but not at the expense of American workers and industry. Proposed environmental controls on business will do little to clean up the world's environment when the rest of the globe will out-pollute out-perform US industry. |
